Fisher Outbuildings
Barto, Pennsylvania

To the east of the home, are a series of outbuildings organized around an old barn that has been reconstructed as a pool house.

One approaches the pool house a long a bluestone path through the vegetable garden.  The garden sits in a small court created by the outbuildings.

The south side of the pool house faces the pool.  An exercise room in the roof of the half story has a perched view of the meadow to the southeast.

A hot tub adjacent to the pool house is nestled into the landscape.  The white of the house in the background sets itself apart from the red of the outbuildings.

Here the mid afternoon sun plays off the board and batten siding and over hang of the symmetrical facade.  A sauna and wood stove are the focus of the first floor.

Prior to reconstruction this small stone barn was next to rubble. To achieve the look of a solid stone structure the barn was rebuilt with a veneer stone wall on the inside as well as the outside.

Here in a different light one can see the palette of materials used on the exterior.

The main room of the Pool House contains a wall mounted sink, a wood stove and some chairs.  The sauna is entered from this space and a shower and changing area are tucked behind the 3/4 wall of the sink.

The potting shed is the first structure as one approaches the compound.

The asymmetrical roof gestures towards the southern sun.  A pair of custom concrete sinks, one shallow for seedlings and the other deep for cleaning, line the southern wall.

Viewed here from the south, the windows are maximized to receive late winter and early spring sun and block the strong sun of summer.
